Over half term I plan to do more research into the genre of my magazine and the style of clothes/hair and make up I want my model to have, also the style of layout and font I want to use.

Research and planning: questionnaire results

These are the results from my questionnaire for my music magazine.

Research and planning: double page spread analysis

This is a double page spread from Q magazine, therefore it is aimed towards 18+ year olds and focuses on the latest artists and music from any genre. You can tell this because the article is about Lana Del Rey who is a current artist. It is also clear because the font and colour of the text is plain and simple, bright colours would suggest it is for a younger audience whereas the dark colours show it is aimed at adults. The model is wearing dark eye make up and looks like she has her eyes closed, you can slightly see a bit of her red hair and her sharp finger nails which look quite claw like, this gives the picture quite a haunting feel. The article is an interview but has been done as an exclusive so it only gives the answers and not the questions. It also isn't as though it is Lana speaking, it is a narrative. The article is in two columns. It has a big letter 's' behind the writing which could be the first letter of the first word like in fairytales. This could give the feel of a twisted fairytale as she looks slightly demonic. The image is a big close up.

Researh and planning: music magazine contents page analysis

The genre of this magazine is mainly pop, however it focuses on chart music therefore there are lots of different genres. You can tell this because the bright colors and fonts suggest that it is a pop magazine but the chart at the side shows that the magazine focuses on all types of chart music and some of the pictures at the top look more indie than pop. The target audience of the magazine is 16-20 year olds. I can tell this because of the colors used and the age of the models in the pictures. The contents page has a column at the side which is the chart of music for the week, it also has two columns of stories featured in the magazine and four columns at the bottom which are online and events. This layout makes it easy to read and find what you're looking for. The main image is a full body shot of a model, it shows her laughing and you can clearly see what she is wearing, this suggests that the magazine also includes fashion rather than just music.
